AVEC MON MEILLEUR SOUVENIR - JEAN & FRANCOIS ROGER – PARIS – FRANCE.

A wooden window behind wire netting few meters down from Place des Vosges, JEAN ROGER workshop has reopen its doors.
The workshop is the Roger’s family memories and the workplaceof the late Jean Roger, a talented ceramist who built a flourishing ceramic business in the 1960’s.
Jean Roger came for Lot & Garonne, a French region famous for its foie gras and pruneaux d’Agen - a dry plum delicacy counselling 1000 virtues – Right after world war II, Jean opened a ceramic workshop in Le Marais and  made a name with his wheel and creations - the most famous being his pineapple and monkey’s artefacts which original pieces can still be found in Antic stores and auction houses around the world, I even saw one of his monkey in a plantation house on Nevis island in the Caribbean.
The trade of Jean Roger was later passed on to his son who mainly worked with a US distributor until the work shop closed in the early 90’s.
It’s Francois, Jean’s grandson, the young ceramist operating the place now.
He started his carrier in wine before coming back to his family trade, learning and perfected his skills with master ceramists before stepping up into his grandfather footsteps, reviving the magical world by relaunching iconic pieces as well as introducing his own. No commercial approach here, as his famous nemesis do, It’s just about work and process, past infusing the present as an old tea bag would brew into today’s lifestyle.
Francois has the energy of the Y generation, giving the past a new meaning in our ever connecting world and the abundance of goods.
Surrounded by his wife and the large Roger clan, the young entrepreneur is happily reinventing our interior aesthetic of tomorrow. Do pass by, it’s all pleasure and bliss in here…
