How wonderful this people who chose to live differently. The guy on the picture, with a smile as sweet as a mouth full of honey is one of them. Uchi was a cool pretty, preppy guy from Tokyo, with a career in film production and a famous singer for girlfriend.
The unpredictable natural casualties that strike Japan from time to time have pushed them as a family to reconsider how they lived. With in two weeks, they packed and moved to Oshima, a small and beautiful island in South Japan and Uchi became a BEE MAN "There was about 80.000 families of farmers and fishermen, living on Oshima 100 years ago, now we are about 17.000". But when i met Uchi, he had just receive a bus of 20 city dwellers looking for a change of life. If until today, Oshima farmers encouraged their offspring to move out of farming, Uchi told us "if this apply 30 years ago when Japan was more rural, things are different now as our growing urbanity will demand for more healthy, valuable natural products". So this new Robinson Crusoe, armed with bee hives, a certain sens of style and his awesome jars of orange and wild flowers honey is carving his path while growing Oshima's community of passionate artisans.
